Make Mental Health a Priority
In March 2023 I Participated in post-COVID focus groups with 100 directors, social workers and front line staff who provide after school and community development services for youth and families across New York City. These conversations offered some hope and a spur to remind others to take mental health seriously.
Playing by the Rules: Conditions for Housing
Untreated mental illness and emotional disorders, self-medication that overtake one’s judgement and self-control are what keep many on the streets. Urges and choices that involve illegal activities, sometimes violence, and often, a disregard for the impact of one’s choices on others are what perpetuate homelessness for many.
