Using Data As a Tool for Scaling and Managing
Client
Northeast NJ Legal Services Corp.
Problem/Question
Like most government-funded service providers, NNJLS maintains case records in a database created by funders to provide data that the funders want but not necessarily what program managers and staff need for management decision making.
They needed help working with what they had to focus resources and workflows in areas where there was growing need by case type for low-income clients to receive pro-bono help in the neighborhoods they serve.
Outcome
Through a grant from the US Legal Services Corporation we provided evidence and insights to help Northeast NJ Legal Services continue to build its pro bono program capacity. Using a collaborative and iterative applied research process, we analyzed case management data and public demographic data to identify critical areas of need and evidence of its success to its funders and created the tools and workflows that enabled their staff to continue using new processes while accessing new public data sources as part of their growth strategy.
